The Vision 5K is organized by a remarkable partnership of five organizations that serve the blind and visually impaired.
Your participation as a runner or walker shows your solidarity with their mission to give the blind and visually impaired the power to transform their lives. And your fundraising provides direct support for the critical services these organizations offer every day to adults and chiildren with visual impairment.
Carroll Center for the Blind
The Carroll Center for the Blind, located in Newton, Mass., is a private, non-profit agency which serves persons of all ages who are blind or visually impaired. Established in 1936, the Center has pioneered innovative methods for blind persons to gain independence in their homes, in class settings, and in their work places.
MAB Community Services
Founded in 1903, MAB Community Services is the oldest social service agency in the country providing services to individuals who are blind or visually impaired. In the course of a century, MAB has broadened its scope to include services for adults with developmental disabilities and adolescents with brain injuries.
National Braille Press
National Braille Press is a Boston-based nonprofit braille printing and publishing house founded in 1927. The guiding purposes of National Braille Press are to promote the literacy of blind children through braille, and to provide access to information that empowers blind people to actively engage in work, family, and community affairs.
New England Eye Institute / New England College of Optometry
New England Eye is a network of eye care centers and programs that reach out to the community with tailored programs for diverse populations. By operating as the teaching affiliate of the New England College of Optometry, and through its ongoing collaboration with area health professionals, New England Eye offers specialized services for the whole-person that begins by focusing on comprehensive eye care.
Perkins School for the Blind
Perkins School for the Blind is committed to providing education and services that build productive, meaningful lives for children and adults around the world who are blind, deafblind or visually impaired with or without other disabilities. Perkins helps over 90,000 people in the United States and in 61 developing countries reach for their greatest independence.
